I went to a shop today to get a price for a zc swap into my 89 hf and this is what they told me :
Si transmission $450
ZC engine $675 (dohc)
Si ECU $200
Wiring $200
Labor $650

grand total: $2,175

And they were aslo asking for $3000 for a B16a installed (engine, shift linkage, engine mount, axles,... ). All this prices are before tax.

What do u guyz think about this. Can a zc swap be done for less than that?

It cost me roughly $12-1400 to put a ZC in my DX by myself and I didnt get the best deal on a few things. That included swapping from an auto to a manual. If I were paying a shop to do it I would not pay anymore than $1800.

i assume thats a dock zc for almost 700 cause the sock is like 225-300 in my area. I would look into other shops and other suppliers for price qoutes. I know my shop isnt adverse to me supplying my own parts, but i asked before i did. good luck dude.

BTW even 700 sounds a tad high for the dock zc.

Lets see, we just recently did a DOHC ZC swap on my buddies auto 90 dx crx.

DOHC ZC engine with ZC DOHC tranny-550 awesome deal
shift linkage,clutch cable,si mounts - roughly 70 dollars
90 teg axles- 100 for the pair (life time warranty from autozone)
Ls ecu- 20 $
ZC Intermediate shaft-100$ (finally found one at hasportmotors)
wiring-30$
pedal box-freebie (someone owed me a favor)

so roughly $870 plus some little things like spark plugs,wires,oil,etc....

and that is converting an auto to manual with a DOHC tranny. But if you plan on going with a DOHC tranny find the intermediate shaft first, so you know you will have it when needed along with 90 teg axles.

motor runs strong, after breaking in we ran it with a very respectable 16.6 stock. We are now looking at porting an polishing the head by a profess. honda mechanic who gaurantees %100 better flow rate.

dohc zc w/ zc tranny $500
pg7 ecu $50
axels $50 junkyard special
labor free

total $600 not including the odds n ends needed. keep searching you can find a better deal on a zc w/ tranny than what that shop wants for the engine alone.

Does that include a bottle of KY jelly, or do you have to supply your own? Buy me a plane ticket, and I will put it in for half that price.

My DOHC ZC swap cost me...

$450 for engine, tranny, ecu, axles, etc...

Installed it myself and put in a new clutch. Had to rent a engine hoist for like $30. So grand total was under $600 for my swap.

Oh, forgot to add the $1200-1400 estimate also included all the odds and ends and an engine hoist and load leveler (purchasing not renting).
