my 93 villager (almost 200k) has been one of the best vehicles i ever owned. Now its aged and had some cooling problems which led to a blown head gasket. Has anybody done a head gasket on one?

which side is blown?
I've done the head gasket on the type of engine before (I also have 2 -86 Zs).. They were a pain but I have never done it on a transverse engine but I would think it that if you blew the near side one, that wouldn't be too bad.......it's all a matter of getting alll that intake stuff off but I would recommend just following the Haynes manual! They're pretty accurate for that stuf but I gotta tell ya, take your time, and when it comes to removing exhaust manifolds and stuff, spray it well with a good lubricant (WD40 for ex...) BEFORE attempting to remove nuts......However PREPARE your self for broken studs; very common!! Good luck and TAKE YOUR TIME!

Do both gaskets at the same time, and get the heads surfaced. Doing one gasket is going to come back and bite you when the other one lets go.

good idea, i'm actually thinking about having it done because i'm such an armchair mechanic. how much you think i could get the job done for? :2cents:

I just had the head gaskets job done on my 95 villager. I had the mechanic also replace the timing belt, the water pump, the seals, the spark plugs and the thermostat. But I am very disappointed because it is running poorly. The timing is off I believe. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the problem??? Please let me know.
Thanks
