Pen used to write on F1 tires???

What type of pen do people use to write/make the markings that I see on the F1 model kits? I assume they are some type of "greese pen" you can pick up at your local art store?

Try gel pens, I know people that have had good results with them.

If you are talking about the older kits with molded on letters, try using a toothpick(cocktail stick)or a 10/0 brush. Make sure you use an acrylic paint like Tamiya as enamel(like Testor's) will never dry. Hold the tire in one hand and rest your paintbrush hand on it to steady. If you go off line just gently scrape of excess with a clean toothpick.

Freakray....the gel pen idea sounds like it will work...I will look into it. Grandpa....do those "china markers" come in different colors? Maybe white or yellow?

Of course- any color you'd like just about. White, yellow, red, green, etc.

You're talking about the LF, RF, etc markings, correct? If so, the china marker will give the most realistic effect. I wouldn't recommend a pen, as it is too glossy.

In real life, the tires are marked with a similar material to the china marker, only larger.

If you want the GOODYEAR lettering, use shabo scale dry transfers, or AcuStion stencil.
