CAI vs K&N

Is it really worth the extra money to buy a CAI or would I get almost as much performance gain out of just buying a K&N filter?

Get the cai, you will gain more hp than just a K&N filter. Don't waste your money just on a filter get the whole intake.

The gain in horse power is so negligable with a filter that it really doesnt matter... You wont feel much of a difference full intake or not, it prolly wont do much with a stock engine. The K&N washable is nice and saves money...

So you think I should just go with the filter and not waste my money on a CAI?

Depends on how modded your engine is. Basically every mod in your engine feeds off one another. The most important and expensive is the heads, but for optimum power you need a good intake manifold and intake system. And for a cam you need good heads for optimum power. Just think about it like this, save your 200$, when you have enough get some heads then build outward, before you know it you'll have more power than you know what to do with. Intake systems only help monsters breath. If your car isnt a monster dont waste money. For instance an intake on an 03 Cobra is said to produce as much as 30whp. That's because it's a monster breathing through a straw. In the end it's up to you. Alot of people do it cause that an exhaust are the most common cheapy mod. If anything, you really want a quick power fix get a 3:73 or 3:55 Gear. 189.99 from summit and you'll launch out like a son of a bitch using the power you already have.

I don't care how modded your car is, you will see NO effects by using a CAI over a K&N panel filter what so ever! The CAI really only adds to the looks of the engine bay. A free flowing K&N drop in filter with the silencer removed, will do the same damn thing as any CAI on the market.

Will headers kill my gas mileage or will it not affect it to bad? Also what kinda horsepower gains can I expect from getting headers?

Shorty headers alone are worth about 10hp. Full length headers are worth as much as 20 (stock engine).
The CAI is not a great improvement over the regular cone type K&N in the engine bay.
The only difference is that with a CAI you have the chance, rare as it might be, that you will suck up water into your intake.
I've seen it firsthand.
not pretty.
