LS/VTEC overheating

I'm considering building an Ls/VTEC and I was wondering if the common problem of overheating or oil leaks is caused by the use of unfiltered oil supplied to the head. If so, wouldn't the Golden Eagle VTEC oil conversion plate solve this, because the oil is filtered first before sent to the head. Also, has anyone had any experience with the Golden Eagle VTEC conversion kit. It comes with dowel pins, a head gasket, the oil line, the oil filter plate, a tap and plug, all the fittings, and arp head studs/bolts. They claim that there is no extra machining work required using their kit. Any truth to this?

Golden eagle makes nice stuff, good quality IMO. I would go with it if it is not too much money.
BTW the common priblems with the LS/VTEC are caused by half a$$ work and crappy work etc. Do it right and you will have no problems.

ive seen the kit i think it requires you to tapper the head. and its at a pretty good price i thinki its like 250 but dont quote me on it im not sure.

im ls vtec n people dont know is that wen u do ls vtec u change the oil pump water pump n timing belt so u wont have that problem

I would stay away from the oil filter plate. It does not keep a good seal, and will start to leak over time. But, I would go with the golden eagle dowl pins, and headgasket. Then just run your oil line from the back of the block. It has nothing to do with being un filtered. The oil still gets filtered regardless of where you get your oil feed.
