Car won't start, shakes when trying to crank

OK, last night, I took my cap off b/c the rubber seal wasn't installed properly. I put the cap back on, and try to start it later. It didn't start. It sounds really rough, and the car even shakes a little when trying to start. The distributor has just been replaced. Before I took the cap off, the car started fine.

Could static discharge be a possibility? I accidently touched one of the screws for the coil wires.

Help would be appreciated like a mofo.
