newbie with some questions

gidday, sorry this is long but please read it

u fellas should read my profile, i cant b bothered to type it all out again...basically im from new zealand, tall, and like to draw.

i found this site a few weeks ago, and i always spend ages on the automotive art section. everyone here has talent.

anyway, i am 15 now and in desperate need of an idea of what to do when i leave school. i really really enjoy drawing cars and also motorbikes i find neat to draw. i would really like to do something where cars are involved, especially drawing them. does anyone know of a gud university (or college, wotever u americans call it) with a good automotive design course? (i am half english and have a british work permit if thats any good)

i will post some work maybe later....school starts next thursday, but before then i am going on holiday and on the way we are visiting Continental Cars (ferraris, lambos, aston martin, jag, bentley, maserati, mercs etc etc) so i will probably have some good reference material.

all comments and queries and recommendations welcome, when i have posted some work u can all tell me how much i suck

with art its a difficult story. it doesnt actually depend on what university you go to. its how good your portfolio is and how solid your work is. sure some courses are better than others but it comes down to you and what you make of it. noone can teach you to be a good artist. you have to learn that yourself. you can take guidance from others, but thats it. as for art instututes, i heard many good things about sheridan and their illustration course. you get tutored by some of the most respected artists in the field and i dont mean some stupidass "contemporary" artist that decided to stick a dirty bed in a room and call it art. im talking about respected concept artists, matte painters and animators etc. if you want more specific info about art degrees and art in general, i suggest you visit these forums: www.conceptart.org and www.eatpoo.com be careful at the last one. theyre REALLY strange guys and flaming new guys is their national pasttime. good artists none the less. i know none of this is actually car specific, but i hope it helps

and Humber College offers an Industrial Design program that can be found at:

There's also school in the states (and maybe in Ontario, Canada) that are specifically dedicated to cars and designing them. It'll take some research, but I'm sure you'll find them.

When it comes to art and wanting a career in that field, you really need to follow your heart, develop a strong portfolio and go after what you love.

thanks guys, i will check out all of those websites. i mite also see if ive got any drawings worth putting into a portfolio. i have started with a new drawing thismorning, so i should be able it post it soon enough.
