Well, you really don't have my stance on it.
Has good been done in Iraq? Yes. Do I commend George W. Bush and his administration for doing it? Yes. Do I feel that there were moments where a bit more diplomacy and tact was needed? Yes. Will postwar Iraq continue to need U.S support? Probably for a good many years.
I don't believe that this war was about oil or about leftover agendas from George Bush's term. I do believe that George W. Bush, however flawed his thinking might be, acted in the way he felt was best according to his beliefs and his moral code. That is something I can appreciate, even when I disagree.
Now, though, that Hussein is deposed and rebuilding is commencing, I think that demilitarizing Iraq will be a good step. Concentrating on other hostile regions, and peaceful relief missions into hunger and disease torn regions of Africa should be goals now.

I take objection with this
"Bush stuffed up,his information on WMD's was a poor excuse for an invasion"
That would require Bush to be informed ;)

We need voice recognition software implemented around here.
I, for one, am glad a large portion of the membership doesn’t come to this section of the forum.

I myself would like to see the WMD that Bush said he would have the whole time the war was going on, and even before. He was so sure of himself that they were there, yet there is nothing but sand so far as the US has been able to find. Granted there have been large amounts of weapons taken out but they are not WMD.
I do, however, feel that there was some good done in Iraq. Saddam Hussein was taken from power, and many of his subordinates captured as well. Hopefully someday Iraq will be some place that people wont have to be afraid to live; I think it's slowly working towards that but with the fighting that is still going on, it's a bit hard to say.
I for one will be voting for someone other than GWB this coming election.

I for one will vote for George Bush! Now go ahead and whine, complain and cry! I rather have a presdient with balls follow his convictions than a president scared to do anything because he might not get re-elected. Not all the decisons he makes will please everyone but who cares what the minority thinks.

I personally think we just need more time to set the government up. No good things come from rushing. Especially something as big as setting up an entire government from scratch. And I really couldn't care less about WMD. Hussein was an idiot and the world is better off without him. Whether we found a hundred nuclear weapons under Iraq tomorrow or we never find them, my opinion wouldn't change.

That's very surprising to myself, Im not saying you are wrong with what you have stated, I mean that many people who got behind G-Dub were under the impression that there were infact WMD to found in Iraq and supported the invasion because of this. Now that there are STILL no WMD people such as myself would like answers; as I stated earlier, Bush made it out that he had such a strong case and that there were most definately WMD in the country of Iraq. Im sorry, but making such a big deal of something and then coming up with not a single Chemical Weapon warhead is quite a blow to credibility, which is especially bad if you are the President of the United States. Im glad Saddam is gone as well, but where the hell are the weapons Bush?

Anyway, he was elected by the only majority that matters at the national level. Electoral votes. Hope thats the end of that discussion in this thread.

i voted this "Bush stuffed up,his information on WMD's was a poor excuse for an invasion"
Bush was handed that state on a sliver plate just like every thing else in his life.
Saddam possed no risk to the United States, to other Middle Eastern contries, perhaps. However, we need to look were Saddam got much of his money and wepons tech..hmm. The US, from Ronand Reagon. The US has a bad habit of supporting the wrong people. We kinda have to blame our selfs for his murdering of the Kurds, it was our tech that did it.

Incorrect. Perhaps if you do a bit of research you will find that the bulk of his weapons and technology was supplied by the Soviet Union. The French and Americans were far behind in those supplements.

To be fair, the US only really supported Iraq against Iran, after that they took the position that Iraq was a threat to Israel... Ya know, a reasonably powerful secular state in the middle east, with no love for Israel, the US didn't really like the sound of that one.

Ok fellas I'm young but you know what, a wise man asked me a question while I questioned the WMD. Right, right we didn't find any in Iraq... so why do you think we're going to other countries with similar governments as Iraq, especially neighboring countries. The WMD wasn't there so maybe we should go look for where it went as that is the place that poses the most threat.
Also if the man was hiding in a hole we passed over on a previous occasion who's to say the weapons are not. Time tells all.

I voted "Bush senior should have done it when he had the chance."
Which is true, the world view was different back then and he would have been able to do what his son has done much easier and without as much protest. You should have made it 2 polls if possible Taranaki, one for people who are actually U.S. citizens, and one for those who aren't. It'd be an interesting thing to see how different the views would be.

Even though we supplied Iraq with WMD's, Saddams crazy ass was the one giving the orders to use them on the Kurds. Bush used the in formation that his "intelligence" advisors gave him to act on Iraq concerning that countries WMD. I've heard reports that Bush already had his mind made up to invade before 9/11 even happened also. I agree that we have backed the WRONG people in many overseas altercations. But as the worlds last true superpower, and the leader of democratic nations, sometimes our leaders have to extend the U.S's hand when there is a threat abroad. Many European countries would let a dictator like Saddam get away with his stong arm tatics until he reached their front door, and then you'd have them beg for our intervention militarialy. I think Bush put all his eggs in one basket when it came to the inavasion of Iraq with the WMD tatic, and the American people will make him answer for it in November.
