How To Clean a Air Filter Properly?

Yeah big time newbie to this stuff. But I have a AEM filter from a V2 CAI that's pretty dirty I'd say. I need to get a grill to help keep the crap hitting it I think, cause only after a day or two of driving it got pretty dirty.

What I did so far was attach the filter a little further into the tubing and so it's kinda more hidden now inwards into the bumper way from the vent on the side. So that helped me a little from the dirt, but where it sticks out to the vent, it's still getting dirty quickly.

Well hope that made sense, it's late and I feel that I'm not chosing the best words to describe. But yeah wondering basically how I go about cleaing the filter safely.

Thanks

I usually just take my filter out and bounce it on the ground couple times :)

you can put a hose to it though, wash it inside out, then let it completely dry

Get a K&N filter cleaning and oiling kit for it.

Most people ignore this kind of thing because they think it makes no difference. Well it does. The cleaning solutin removes any road oils and deposits, and the special oil acts like a second filter on the filtering surface. It helps to trap particles that otherwise would enter your intake tract.

And any intake that is lower in the engine bay wil become dirty fast. Causing the need to clean it often.
