question about Mustangs

how many different types are there? gt, cobra, etc... how do u tell which is a v6, or v8??? Just wondering.

This can't be for real but- what year or years many variations over the times. Badging, how many tail pipes, open the hood and count cylinders.

Can you be more specific, like what years, before I go off on a tangent in a totally different area then desired.

Usually you can tell by the drivers.
If he looks like a young gansta then its a V6.
If he looks like the custodians from your local high school, then its a GT.
If he has a mullit, a mustache and a sock stuffed in the crotch of his tight ass pants then its a Cobra.

84-04 naw that's kinda old. i want a newer generation. I'm not familiar with mustangs.

cobra have a cobra badge on the front fender and a different hood.
Gt's have dual exhaust and either a 5.0 emblem on the fender along with different ground effects or a gt emblem on the front fender.

Actually I have seen them in both cars mustangs and firebirds.

94-95: Horizontal tail lights, has 5.0 engine but not sure if the emblem is on the side
96-98: Vertical tail lights with space between each of them, has 4.6L GT badge on the side, says Mustang GT on the rear bumper
99-04: Veritcal tail lights no space between each of them: has GT emblem on side and back.
96-04 Cobra's say Cobra on the rear bumper
I think they all also have the cobra symbol on the front instead of the mustang.

I dont know the 94-95 that well easiest way to tell the years apart is the tail lights easiest way to tell the models apart is to just look for badges.

94-95:
V6 = 3.8L, 145 hp, 215 torque
GT = 5.0, 215 hp, 285 torque
GTS = 5.0, 215 hp, 285 torque
Cobra = 5.0, 240 hp, 285 torque
Cobra R = 5.0, 280 hp, 340 torque
(GTS and Cobra R are only 95)
96-98:
V6 = 3.8L 150 hp, 215 torque
GT = 4.6L 215 hp, 285 torque
Cobra = 4.6L 305 hp, 300 torque
99-02:
V6 = 3.8L 190 hp, 220 torque
GT = 4.6L 260 hp, 302 torque
Cobra = 4.6L 320 hp, 317 torque
03-04:
V6 and GT are the same
Cobra = 4.6L 390 hp, 390 torque

Little hp and torque changes happended alot in the years but everything that is on here is pretty close to what the actual #'s of the cars are.

Hey Nismo while you are in the skyline forum tell them not to be such dicks. The SVT Emblem was on all cobra's '95 and newer, and a FEW 94's from the factory (Largely Debated fact from 94's, but some DID-Including mine.). '01 Cobras had "COBRA" rear bumpers, and 94-95 and 99 Cobra's had "MUSTANG" rear bumpers. I'm not sure what the 2000 Cobra had (only a few built in Australia, I'm pretty sure they're 99's with "the Fix")

The 94-95 Cobra's also had a crabclaw spoiler w/LED 3rd Brakelight and no brakelight in the trunklid.

BTW No Mullett, No Mustache, No Sock, but it's a Cobra. I have a High-and-Tight. I think the sock in the pants goes more for V6 models that have GT or Cobra badging on them.....
