this is getting rediculous. I will never order with HLJ again unless I have ABSOLUTELY no choice.

Its been nearly one month since I've paid for my order. Still no models. :cya:

It took HLJ 16 days to ship my order after recieving payment. All items ordered were IN STOCK. :chair:

My LHS just started stocking fujimi products now, this is at least a year after I bantered with them to find a supplier, to which they stated "why" or something of that sort. :headshake Its like pulling teeth just trying to purchase a freekin model some putty and some decent rims for it. Maybe I need to start my own shop, too bad I'm in no shape to do so. [/rant] sorry guys.. your the only one's that would understand...

I've never had a problem with HLJ before. Are you sure it isn't a possibility that one of you models was awaiting delivery to HLJ thus causing the rest of the order to wait?

everything was in stock. this was an important factor with my order.. I thought it may speed thing up

I ordered a couple of things before just before Christmas from HLJ... I paid just after, however with it bieng the holidays it didn't get processed any further until the 5th. They shipped the order on the 9th and it came today. I've never had a problem with them, and considering Christmas etc I've nothing to complain about.

If you chose SAL shipping method the once it's been shipped HLJ can do no more to speed it up.

I had a package shipped from HLJ the friday after christmas, and still haven't received it.

I wish they would restore the UPS shipping. Or any other service that tracks their packages. Not knowing if it's coming or possibly lost is frustrating.

I hear you. I made an order of in-stock merchandise a week ago. It's in that "limbo" phase now where "we've determined the item is in stock, and are calculating payment/shipping charges yada yada yada".

They aren't very fast getting in-stock items out the door... :screwy:

I ordered 3 time, always took 30days to receive

in fact, it take 20days or so, but custom department hold them for 7 days before sending it

If I remember correctly, HLJ only ship when they have enugh order to send.. that ensure "best shipping price"

well, this is the official answer

I thought you could track EMS?

You can track EMS if you can read Japanese...plus, if you ordered recently, HLJ has been closed until i believe it was the 14th.

I have never had problem with HLJ since 2001.....They provide an excellent services...someone lost my package in last August, then I told HLJ about this, after 1 week I received the same order from them for FREE!!! :) All of my orders were delivered by SAL.

yeah I wish they would restore UPS also.. although the price would probably be outrageous. I don't hate HLJ its a good site but they are ALWAYS celebrating some Japanese holiday everytime I order and they celebrate for like a month (like I'm supposed to know.. and they only tell you AFTER you order). then they wait another month to ship in stock merchandise, then I gotta wait till their low-budget sailboat shipping method decides to make the voyage to the new world.

I'm going to have another heart to heart with my weak-ass hobbyshop.. they need to step things up (its hobbytownUSA for all sakes)

Blueboost, why don't you try using other Japanese hobby sites like Hobby Search, Hobby World or Rainbow Ten? I've had it with HLJ, too.

Now I use Hobby World and Rainbow Ten exclusively. They have extensive stocks and no long "waiting-to-ship" periods. Typically my order ships within a couple of days of ordering. And for some reason, their SAL shipping is faster than I've ever had with HLJ. I even got a Hobby World order, shipped on Monday arrive on Saturday (Japan to Texas). Typically it takes around 8-10 days, but that's much faster than the usual 14+ days HLJ takes. Now, I've never had a problem with HLJ; I just found better out there.

I had quite a few problems with HLJ and quite unhappy about the way they deal with it (actually they don't want to deal with it). Since then i've tried Hobby Search (1999.co.jp) and they are quite good! I may try Hobby World and Rainbow Ten next then!

I also have stopped ordering from HLJ (unless they have something no other shop does) and pretty much use Hobby World. I love their speed and friendly communication. Too bad about the 50 yen handling fee, but oh well. Nothing wrong with HLJ other than that frustratingly long waiting period.

I pretty much have ordered exculsively from HLJ for about 4 years now and don't have any complaints. The shipping time has gotten longer but, I have so many unbuilt kits that I basically just buy something to have it before it's discontinued. I've never seen myself in a hurry to get the stuff, I guess that's why it works o.k. for me. Then again, I always place large orders, that could be the difference, too.

thanks for the comments, I will try some of the other places you guys have recommended next time. Its really a shame though because if they would get their act together and tighten up a little bit I'd have no problem giving my future business to HLJ. I wasn't in a rush when I ordered, but now I need the stuff for whats currently on the table. I would also check w/ joeclaw again next time I have some $$$

hehe, Alex, the handling fee is 500 yen. Better buy in large quantity to compensate the 500 yen additional charge.

I also ordered during their holiday.
12/25 Order of two instock items was placed
12/29 HLJ charged on my credit card
01/08 Shipping notice recceived
01/20 SAL arrived

Process time was 14 days and shipping time was 12 days.

As for holidays, I started working in US last year, and American holiday sucks big time. In Japan, there're at least one holiday each month except June, and they're all paid holidays. I miss Japanse holidays.

Cool! Show us the c/f decals! Are they any good?

They are great, and the kit is WELL worth the extra dollars. I'll take some pics of the addtional pieces/decals and post them in a new thread tommorow. The pics I took tonight didn't turn out well.

They added a clear under-engine part. So you can view the engine from below after assembly. The carbon fiber decals have a template printed on the back for easy cutting out of the shapes. The CF decals are only for the most prominent visable CF parts. Not for the whole monoque and engine bay.

I've never had any problems with HLJ, but I guess I am lucky. If you inspect the package when you get it, read the shipping label. It has a green sticker that declares it for customs. Realize, customs leaving Japan and customs coming into the United States both can open the package and inspect it to make sure there are nothing illegal being shipped and to be sure that they are not being frauded by people sending $3000 watches and labelling them as $20 models. That is outside of HLJ's control, and anyone can fall victim to it. So if your package is taking a long time to ship, perhaps that is the trouble? Just a thought.

Hmmm...i haven't really had a major problem with HLJ. They've been OK as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes when you order stuff that's in stock, they may have just run out and have not have updated their website yet, so they put it on backorder.

I bet they are still recovering from the long Christmas break they took especially as everybody is probably spending their Christmas pressie money. :grinno:

if I ever have to order from HLJ again, I will do that.

still not here. who the hell even delivers SAL packages in the US anyways? I don't even know who to look out for :dunno:

from the website:
"SAL: 7-30 days"

"...please do not contact us about your package being delayed until at least double the maximum amount of time shown above has passed."

2 months?? :nono:

I understand HLJ isn't really responsible and I hold no ill feeling except for the super-long time it takes them to process an order.
My package must be getting raped by customs. I can't blame them for gettin excited over those sexy pictures of the cars on the box... :naughty: :boink:

Not to keep on the HLJ-bashing, but is it just me or do HLJ packages always comes slightly crushed or dented? Nothing as bad as Joe's above. I order a lot of stuff from Japan (models, magazines, DVD's, etc), from various vendors, 99% of it sent by SAL, and only HLJ's boxes come banged up. Strange.

Shipments made by SAL have not set time for arrivial. Sal stands for Surface Air Lift. The package goes ground to the airport where it flies "standby" (whenever we have empty space in the aircraft) and when it arrives in the destination it is also treated as a ground package.
EMS on the other hand is priority air from start to finish.
