Extended cab / carseat?

I have a generic question. I looking a new, or 2-3 year old Ram 1500. I'd like an extended cab, but I just found out that my wife is pregnant. Does anybody with an extended cab know if a carseat can fit (safely) in the back seat? I suppose I could buy a quad cab, but would rather have just the extended cab. I just don't want to compromise the baby's safety just to cram a carseat in the back of an extended cab. Any info is appreciated.

Our kids are 2yrs and 9 months both in car seats. We have a 1999 2500 ext cab. The rear facing seats that we found will only fit in the middle back seat when the console (middle front seat) is folded down. They will not fit behind the other front seats. However when the kids can sit in a front facing seat (1 yr or 20lbs, our son already does) then the seats fit in any position in the back. Two important things! Make sure any ext cab you buy has doors that open to the back seat or you can not get the seats in without major aggrevation & try the car seats out before you buy some fit far better than others.
