Installing a VTEC indicator light...help!

Okay I bought all the stuff that Hazone.com said I should get.

I have a hole drilled, the light's in, now where do I put the wires?

Those directions on that site aren't good enough for newbs like me!

I don't know exactly where the ECU is...I looked under my glove box and I see some plugs and lots of wires....but I didn't see a green wire w/ a yellow stripe. There is a green wire with a WHITE stripe...and thats the wire that's plugged into the VTEC solenoid. Is this the right wire?

Ok, so if anyone can please tell me where I plug the + and - wires into that would be awesome.

PLEEEEASE! kthxbye

Connect the wires as the website says http://hazone.com/hvlight.htm The ECU is located under the passenger side carpet/footwell - pull the carpet down & you will see it. Make sure to use clip on connectors for the ECU wires - DO NOT cut factory wires.

ok..so i use those tap-ins i bought to connect the wires..

and what is the purpose of the 330 ohm resistors? just wondering.

one last question, whats the negative wire for? where do i connect it to?

AHHH no one is answering me...i posted this on like 5 different honda forums:

WHERE DO I PLUG THE NEGATIVE WIRE TO?!!!!

kthx

not completely sure about this, but I believe you just ground it. Try temporarily grounding it to a bolt or something and go for a drive and see if the light comes on.

yeah it worked...i didnt know u could just touch it to anything metal thats on the car..i just temporarily touched my keychain with it....

it worked fine but then the wires all slipped out (i dont have a soldering iron so i tried to electrical tape it...dumb idea)

soooo..i ended up getting pissed off after a couple hours of trying to ghetto rig it up and broke the LED....sooooo i gotta go get a new bulb and a soldering iron! (damn me)

btw, what is the 330 ohm resistor for? before i put it on it worked without it...

yeah the negative is just a ground basically... and I would highly recommend the soldering iron idea. first of all it is the best way to do a nice clean job with wiring (in most cases) it is a little bit of an art to do it perfectly, but its worth it

I was kind of surprised how often I use a soldering gun, for many things like the stereo in my car and the gauges other misc. wiring in the race car... it comes in handy.

this is somewhat unrelated but if you use shrink wrap when you are making wiring connections like I do, remember to put it on the wire and slide it out of the way BEFORE soldering the connection... lol

PUT THE RESISTOR BACK ON!!!

You'll burn out the LED and worse... you may damage the power source in the ECU box. The resistor regulates the current running through the LED, and thus the amount of current that the power source must provide.

With the resistor, you're running about 30 mA of current through the resistor. Check that your LED can handle this current.

Yeah, you'll see the LED come on without the resistor, but it won't work forever... up until you burn out the LED or source.

So:
+ end of LED to VTEC wire
- end of LED to one end of resistor (330ohm)
other end of resistor to grounded wire (ground it anywhere on the exposed chassis)

lol...no doubt, I forgot to put the shrink wrap on the wire before soldering the connections when I was wiring my wiring harness to the cd player's wiring harness for my first system and I had to cut and strip and do it all over again.

the exact same problem I had!!! I got all the wires soldered together all nice and purty then I was like hmm, all I have to do now is put the shrink wrap on. seconds later choice words could be heard coming from inside my car...
