01 Ranger won't idle intermittantly.

No check engine light at all. When starting, have to use throttle to keep it running. This happens most of the time although once in a while it will idle on it's own. I'm a little puzzled. Can anyone help?

Check the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve - it may be sticking or giving bad voltage readings to the computer.. The symptoms of a faulty valve are: fast or irregular idle and/or erratic performance.
