JDM Honda CRX SiR Vtec GLASSTOP

Hey,
I just bought this car straight from Japan, and was wondering if anyone out there has done any mods to one of these before. She's parked for the winter, but I am dying to do her up for the summer. Any ideas??

I have an EF9 Civic so it's the same story. Usual mods I/H/E but you'll find that the rear shocks may have different mounts to the domestic varients due to the rear disks and the fact that JDM stuff is done slightly differently in some cases. Good luck on parts - there's a lot on the front end that you will need to source.

I saw an EF8 glasstop a few days ago, nice beast but the sun in the middle of summer (right now here - Australia) would destroy me.

You can't convert a CRX to a glass top, you have to buy a glass top CRX. They look pretty sweet.

It's integral with the car - you'd have to cut the entire roof off yours and apply a JDM similar cut - I dunno how much rigidity you'd lose though.

oh shoot i thought might be some kind of coversion for a glass to to replace the metal..its kool though i just have to live with it

The glasstop conversion has been done. I seen it in a friend of a friends garage.. Looks fuggin' dope as hell.

We seem to be getting the JDM Si and SiR 'rexs in here more so people are going that way rather than buying an ED 'rex. Same car, but it's cheaper to buy and import from Japan than buy an Aussie spec one.

Import runs to about 4 grand US and domestic is between 5-6 grand US.

I'm in Canada.. He didn't import the whole car, just the roof and everything he needed.. I didn't see the build up process, I just seen the car in his garage. :)

I bought the car from japan. It IS a glasstop and I do live in Canada. All in all, the car cost about 12. It is in mint cond. No rust, No dents, scratches etc. I love this car!!!!!!!!!!!

That car is the one from HCI when they debuted the Widebody black widow kit for the CRX, It had a regular top in the magizine so it must have been done since then.

If it cost 12 you got ripped big time :? My EF9 was the equivilent of 5K US and they are coming in here even cheaper.

They were released in late '89 AFTER the Integra XSi.

The Si was released in '88.

I'm going to call bullshit on this. No pics, just a lot of talk and you can't even get it's build date right.

What's your VIN number smiff? As in the JDM one? If importing to Canada is like doing it to Australia - we are issued with a second (domestic) VIN as well as having the original left on the car. Easy to check against mine to see if you can get it right. The B16A/Y1 numbers are a good indication too.
