Sup Fellaz,
I was wondering how much horsepower does the Subaru STi acutally have, it say it has 300hp(or whp) and 300lbs. of torque, and i read this article and it said it only had like 276hp. so i was wondering what is true, and i don have access to a dyno, so i was wondering if someone could help me.
thankz

Are you sure the article said HP and not kW?
Even better for future reference www.subaru.com

The american 2.5 has 300hp, the 2.0 in other countries has 276hp

That's 300bhp, not 300awhp. It's closer to 215-220awhp on a DynoDynamics Dyno.

MB is right....at the crank the horsepower is 300 and 300pounds....By the time it gets to the wheels it is at about 265 to 270....Thats the sti.....The 2.0 is listed 227hp at the crank.......But actually is pushing 200 to 205....if that.....Plus your talking about an awd....I like it but still a lot of power is being lost.... So that article you read is about right....They probably dynoed the sti and put the actual wheel horsepower in the article.. "MOST" cars are like that....bhp is higher than whp......But if you want to know exactly what your car is pushing....take it to a dyno...
peace.. :banghead:

"ALL" cars are like that. you will always have less whp than bhp ( losses in tranny and diffs ) and you will have way less whp with an auto ( losses in torque converter )
