I have a 2002 Corvette in storage for the winter. Tried to move it the other day and got a message to remove key and wait 10 seconds. Did this and got a message on the next try to service steering column.
Does antone know what causes this and if there is anyway to reset.
The car is a 6 speed if that matters. Thanks.

 I feel your pain Murph.
Mine is a 98' and it happened at a show, many miles from my home
area, luckilly I was able to get it unlocked.
One remedy is to pull fuse #25 for about 30-60 seconds, then
re-insert and try to crank it up and see if she moves. It does
not always work however. You'll have to clear/reset a bunch
of messages/codes on the DIC if it does work.
This is a BIG-TIME warranty issue and GM/Chevy know all about it.
The lock feature was deleted on the 2001 and up...Automatics.
Good luck!
