A stupid 16 yr old that drives a 1995 mustang gt auto with flowmaster exhaust,H pipe,headers,3:73 gears, shift kit,a cold air intake and i think pulleys wants to race my best friends 2001 firebird V-8 with flowmaster exhaust (It's a manual). Do you think he can take the mustang gt?

I really have no clue, but I can tell you who I'm rooting for... ;)

I'd give anything to have a 2001 T/A...

i dont like to talk anyone down really, but your question is one that is continuousley asked. it depends on the driver. i could beat a viper in a metro if he didnt know how to drive. that obviously is exadurating. and because hes 16 doesnt mean that he is autmatically stupid. people like you piss me off. assuming someone young is automatically an idiot. it looks like hes upgraded his car pretty tastefully.

one thing no one ever mentions about a race is the tires. for all we know one could be using bald tires that have never been changed for the life of the car. and that would make a huge huge difference.

anyways, let me know who wins, the only way to have an idea is to have the race take place.

I'm assuming your 16 too, thats why your pissed off. I never said the kid was an idiot either. The reason why I said the 16 yr old kid was stupid is because he thinks he can beat my friends firebird with his 95 mustang gt.(not because of his age)
I posted this question to get some oppinions and to have an idea who is faster. Maybe the 16 yr old isn't an idiot after all.:dunno:

any more oppinions???

that gt has some pretty decent work done to it so it would be a close race with 2 identical drivers and tires and any other variable you wanna throw in that could change the out come of a race

but a stick is obviously a little quicker then a auto but that auto has gears and some other stuff to make up for that so it should make for a good race

are you joking? My 98 v6 firebird can walk a 95 automatic gt all day. I dont even care if the TA never gets out of second gear lol It wont even be close.

even with the mods he has had done on the mustang...i doubt its pushing over 300 horse and we all know that the TA has about 310 stock and with the exhuast prolly 315-320. Also not to mention the torque

petereggy

not its not pushing 300 its probly around 285...

but the gears are good and whats the stock T/A gears low 3's?? so the gear diff makes up for some hp

This is simple a 95 mustang gt has 215 hp stock, 2001 T\A has 310 hp stock, The gt may have some nice mods but i cant see it out performing the Trans Am. It takes a lot to increase 100 horse power. The T\A should be an easy winner no matter who is driving.

285 hp on that gt, thats pushing it??? I doubt it, that thing prolly only has about 250 maxx. The only things he has on it that will produce more hp is exhaust, headers, and pulleys. All of which will add 10hp max...if that.. to a mustang gt.

250 hp is still a dream!!! Stock is 215 hp, with the current mods it probably has about 225-230 max at the flywheel, so thats about 184.5 RWHP, which will obviously not be enough do handle the TA. My vote is with the TA hands down.

I dunno what world you guys live in but the rules of thumb are full exhaust is good for about 30 horse, cold air another 10-15 and pulleys another 5-10

so off the stock 215 that puts it to 270 max the T/A will still win but give the GT some credit its quick for what it is but its not gonna beat the T/A anytime soon

LOL I wanna know too, but I give it to the bird by far...unless its ragged. But it's hard to rag out a bird.

I have owned 93 1/2 Mustang Limited Edition with 5.0 and now own a 1996 LT1 powered Formula, as well as a Z3 but a 2001 LS1 would blow my doors off my Formula with Borla exhaust, Accel Coil ram air system just mention a few and I had almost the same mods as they listed for the Mustang, I think its no contest unless the Firebird owner is the worse driver ever

whats ragged?

"Ragged Out" meaning the engine/trans was not taken care of and abused...therefor not up to factory performance. It's sad but sometimes fun... :evillol:

I dont know if this will get your hopes up, but I beat mustang cobra in my 79 formula (rebuilt engine 403, pushing somewhere around 375hp) and it was in after rush hour traffic.
P.S. He started it. :)

I dont belive what I read in mags its just a basic rule of thumb to be followed loosely even desk top dynos are off only good was is 1/4 mph or a rear wheel dyno

I dont belive what I read in mags its just a basic rule of thumb to be followed loosely even desk top dynos are off only good was is 1/4 mph or a rear wheel dyno The biggest thing is you think you'll get 10-15hp from a CAI? I wouldn't expect more then 1hp from that.

There is no way you will see a 55hp increase with just exhaust pulleys and a CAI. Sorry, just not going to happen.

I never said 55 hp out of cold air and pulleys
I said 55 with cold air pulleys and full exhaust

HotBoys09

If ya wanna think that positive...you MIGHT be able to get about 40 at the crank, but then youll lose alot through the drivetrain...look at dyno's before/after it's not that enticing.
