new vinyl

i have a couple tears in my vinyl on the door and dash. I want to just tear the old out and put some new in. how hard is it to form the vinyl around those tricky angles tho, i heard with a heat gun you can really start to shape it, but there are some pretty sharp corners, anyone here tried this???
