Need some info on the automatic tranny in my 1991 crx hf. I will most likely have to replace it if i plan on building my engine up, but does any know how much horsepower/torque the tranny came handle. Im asking so i know how much i could build on my current engine if i decide to.

honestly i dont know anything about trannys ... and not that much about cars in general. but i remember hearing that some of the faster drag cars have auto trannies so im guessing it can handle a bit more then you think.

Umm I thought the HF CRX didnt come with an auto. Isnt the DX the only one that came with a auto tranny?

yup dx is the only one that came auto......hf stayed with the 5 spd as the auto tends to decrease gas milage.

dx tranny can be put on any crx newb my crx had a stick and i bought another tranny automatic but if you want to buy another one for ur new engine dont because the engines b16 come wit there own tranny because of there ratio.

try emailing level 10. they do custom work on auto trannys. most automatics do hold up fairly well to bolt ons n such. as far as building the b15b8, IMO dont. use it as a spare. the b8 was built with gas milage in mind. lighter parts, an 8 valve head.....if you really want to buidld a d15 find yourself a d15vtec or a d15b2. however it is a little harder to find aftermarket parts at a decent price for the 1.5.

who said anything about a b16? regardless a b series tranny would never bolt up to a d series block. as far as tranny ratios go, it could make or break you. go with a tranny that will best suite your engine.
