Question on Cali spec cars.

Alright, being from Canada, I had to go down to the states and bring myself up a 3000. But I know they put a whole lot of emissions stuff onto the cars down in Cali to pass smog, which restricts the car and makes it lose horsepower. I want to take mine off. Does anyone know what they put on them, and how to go about reversing it? Or should I just go with a new exhaust system in general?
