problem with deforst on 93 escort

I use he defrost and it ges rid of the ice.But it fogs up the windows and it stays that way until 30 minutes or so. And no the AC just makes it worse.

any help here?

Try putting the fresh air / Recurculate knob on the fresh air position.

You may have a pinhole leak in the heater core.It doesn't take much antifreeze to fog the window.Do you have a "sweet" smell w/ the defrost?

I agree with the leak in the heater core. Cuz when the heater core fails the car will get really foggy on the inside of windows. The sweetness the last person was talking about is the coolant coming into your car. So yes the fogging is inconvenient, but is also not so great for you. So get that looked at!!!

I have to disagree for one reason guys, the fog would not go away after 30 minutes and there would be a film on the window building up. The defrost on tracers was a weakness untill they redid the heater controls in 94 or 95. the 93 has a fresh air slider while the 95 does not my 95 tracer defrost works great while the 93 is crummy. the fresh air on the 93 should help to some extent but if there are two or three people in the car.... it helped my 93 to crack the driver window just a tad but thats about as good as it gets. The other possibilty is that the cables on the heater control are not moveing the doors in the heater box al the way. Check both sides and make sure the function properly.

I had the exact same problem on my 1993 Ford Escort Wagon and I put up with it for over two years. Anyways I just switched the Fresh Air/ Recirculate lever over to the Fresh Air side and it took care of all of my fog up problems.
