Hey everyone,
This might sound like a dumb ass question but i dont know the answer to it. Will a 1st generation tranny fit in a 1995 eclipse?? Its from a 92 eclipse gs 2.0 and the other is a 1995 eclipse gs 2.0

No it will not fit. The motor in your 1995 is a 420a (chrysler). The 92 is a NA 4G63 completly diffrent motors.

correct me if im wrong, wont the tranny work if u have a 97 4g63 engine and swap it for a 94 4g63 engine? both turbo charged.

Nope. The 2g has the front and rear motor mounts on the tranny. The 1g puts the front and rear motor mounts on the block, so the tranny wont have any mounts. You might be able to get a 2g tranny in a 1g, but not the other way around. Now, I believe it was sean caron that did put a 1g tranny in a 2g, but he had to weld up all the mounts. Who needs the hassle. ;)

are you sure thats not the other way around... cause when i just pulled the motor in my GST the mounts that were on the block was one on the drivers side and one in front... and the 2 that were on the tanny were one on the back and one on the passenger side! i dont get it

On a 2g the front mount is on the tranny. On a 1g the front mount is on the block. Its just the way it is :)

ok here is the top view of my motor before i pulled it... the first pic on the page! if you enlarge it the motor mount the sits on top of the crossmember is right under the left corner of the valve cover? so if it was on the ranny wouldnt it be over another 6 inches to the left? sorry i'm not tring to prove you wrong but i still dont get how that is on the tranny! http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/496801/2

Its on the tranny :) Part of the illusion is the angle at which the picture was taken.

hehe. Its all good. After working on dozens and dozens of 1gs and 2gs, things like that are burned in my mind forever. But I do still mix things up every now and again. Not this time though :icon16: heh
