2001 Jetta - Remote Entry Dead

My Jetta's remote locks, trunk release, fuel door and interiors
lights' fuse is blown and keeps blowing when I replace them. I think
it started a while back. All of a sudden the car would auto lock and
engage the alarm even with the key in the ignition. It did this also
with the door open. The driver side door lights (red and white)didn't
go on when the door was open. The auto-lock/alarm thing went away but
now I have a short somewhere. could it be the lock mechanism in the
driver door doing this or is it more involved? Also, is there any way
of manually opening the fuel door and trunk? I can't find anything in
the manual.

usually your fuel door opener is inside on your drivers door bottom, near the front of the door, or it coulc be on the front bottom left of your seat.

That release won't work without power. As far as the trunk and fuel release, I was looking for a cable to pull in place of the electrical buttons.

Here's an update to this problem. Actually it's 2 problems. As far as the remote thing and the fuses blown: Turns out that remote locks, trunk release and fuel door release is controlled by this "convienence module" located under the dash. Costs just under $400 and with labor and T-shooting time added up to $650.
The Auto locking thing is a different problem. Still not right but it's not doing it right now. I don't think the module knows if the door is opened or closed. Might be as simple as a bad door switch. No door open chime and interior lights on when the door opens. Does anyone know where the door switch is located on the driver side door?
