How low?

I currently have stock 15" rims, but want upgrade to 18". How low can I drop it? Do I need to replace my stock struts?

it's always a good idea to replace them with new rims because of the jounce of the vechicle you might hit a bump and mess up your new rims because your decreasing the area the wheel can travel up and down in taking a bump . better shocks and springs will help compensate for the travel distance between the rim and the rim well .and also get a wheel alingment after putting the new rims for better driving .

call me old fashion, but I dont recommend getting oversized tires for you car. Considering how the engineers spend a lot of time designing the car to reach several target goals as far as prefromance in a car is concerned. For instance heres an idea of the things that are affected when someone decides to ge bigger tires on there car. Your transmission may have to work extra as it is not designed to turn larger diameter, heavier tires, your gas mileage will go down (if you notice, all cars that get good gas mileage have super small tires, like the toyota prius.), road roar, the suspension componets may fail sooner, especially on an older car with already worn shocks and stuff, as well as the general acceleration of the car may not be as satisfying as before. What some people have opted to do instead of getting bigger tires is trying to get lower profile tires will a rim size slightly larger than the stock rims. Of course lower profile tires have there own drama associated with them, but such is the price you pay for adjusting your vehicles configuration
