I'd never heard of it until i saw a pic in an old magazine the other day. I can't seem to find very much on the Internet so im asking our walking, talking porsche encyclopaedia, aka Cbass for information. Spill the beans Mr C!

Hehehe, sorry I can't be of much help, I've never heard of a 939.

I think what you have here is a joke, or a body kit that is designed to incorporate design elements of the 928 and the 911. 28 + 11 = 39, btw ;)

Those are clearly 928 headlights, and the turn signals look to be from a 928S, if I'm not mistaken. Either way, the pic is photochopped :iceslolan

I think they must have been kits, but some were definitely made, the pic in the mag was certainly real, and there were stats for performance too :dunno:

and oh yeah, thanks for the maths lesson, wiseass :thefinger

I think a company out of the chicago area called B&W motorsports makes that bodykit.

A small company in Switzerland named Rinspeed specialising in converting Porsches was making and selling this "Rinspeed Porsche 939". The yearly Auto Katalog of '85/'86 has a pic of exactly that car in the pic you posted only in white. There was also a "969" which was the similarly styled fixed-head version. They had also a "929" model based on the 928. Soon after Porsche themselves introduced the 959 they changed their naming system to R29, R39 etc obviously on Porsche's insistence.
