OK, I blew my old motor running like 6 psi on stock internals so I blew the block and had to get a motor quick to put in the car. So we went crazy and got what we could on a short budget.

D16A6 Block = Free
D15?? Head = $20
D15B7 Tranny = From the old motor

So we first clean up the block and head, reseal everything, new gaskets including head, put the motor together and put it in the car. We get everything hooked up right, first problem, the dizzy has three bolts that don't fit quite right and we can only use two after making one of the holes bigger on the housing. After jerry riggin this dizzy we get the ignition hooked back up (MSD SCI) and we take out the plugs and turn the ignition to see if they are getting a spark and it's a big blue spark due to the upgraded ignition which is good. We set the timing to top center and start the car, nothing, we advance the timing and after like 50 tries we get the car to start. It's idling kinda shady but we did a leak down test and a compression test and everything is good. After running the car for 30 mins at just idle, we turn it off for some reason and we can never get it to start again. We keep playing with the dizzy, turning it every which a way and nothing. It will crank but won't kick over. Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated.

Now I know my car is OBD1 and Im thinking since that dizzy isn't acting right that maybe I will have to find the one that will fit that head. But I have to stay in my ECU category cause I don't want to have do anything with wiring, i just want the car to start. One of my friends said due to the different block and head, you might be experiencing this due to the different displacement and you might have to run on advanced timing to correct the longer stroke of the A6 block. Man, I just want my car to work, any help here!!!!

Any help here, we still havn't got this car started. We even put an D16A6 cam in the head of the D15 and still a no go. Someone suggested a adjustable cam gear but someone else said that's the ghetto way of fixing your timing. I am in the market for a Z6 head, but now i have a few questions: Will my D15 dizzy bolt up to the Z6 head or do I have to get a Z6 dizzy, and also, if i don't have the P28 ecu will that effect things on my car and make it not run also? I'm still keeping the A6 block so whatever is the choice, keep that block in mind.
