67 chevy driveline problems

my friend just got his truck back for the shop. he got his truck bagged. it is so low the bottom of the doors drag on the ground. but the problem is the carrier bearing. which is the bearing that holds the driveline from shaking around. the angle on the driveline is makeing the bearing wear out really fast. could someone please help us with this problem.

What kind of trans is in the truck? The rear-most driveshaft should be a slip-yoke type. If possible, take it to a machine shop and have them extend the "tube" part of the driveshaft, so you can eliminate the driveshaft between the trans and the carrier bearing. You just have to make sure that the u-joint at the back of the trans, and the u-joint at the front of the rear-most driveshaft is the same (hope I'm not cunfusing you :)), so that the slip yoke portion will bolt on to the back of the trans. Now, if you already have a trans with a slip-yoke sticking out of it, all you have to do is make another driveshaft from the slip-yoke to the rearend. Depending on how low the truck is, this "single" driveshaft might interfere with a frame crossmember, and you may have to modify it. The whole purpose of this driveshaft modification is to eliminate the steep angle you have with the short driveshaft.
