SRT OWNAGE, haha

Not impressed AT ALL by the srt. This was my first encounter with one. And it was pretty bad. On my way up to Baltimore from my house, a black srt comes up quick on me and then switches lanes to pass. I look over and notice that it's a neon and wonder if it's an srt. He kinda goes along side of me for a bit then fly's on by. I notice that it is in fact and srt so I give chase. Just kinda stayed on him through light traffic, going about 70. We come up to a light and he rolls down his window. It's three young kids, no more than 16 or 17. I talk to them and he mockingly says "that things sounds powerful" then revs. I can hear the turbo, but nothing impressive. I rev back and the three kids about die, haha. Quite amusing. I tell them to take it from a roll b/c I'm on nearly bald tires. Buuuttt, he guns it from the light and spins the tires pretty bad. I take off nice and slow and get on it when I'm going about 10mph, with him already about 5 lengths in front. Ok...I suspected it would be pretty close since I was so far back already...It was a BLOWOUT. I passed him up by 70, and can't even begin to judge how far ahead I was by 110. Let's just say his headlights were waaayyy back. We went three more times, twice from roll, and once from a stop. Everytime it was the same thing. I was not impressed AT ALL. I expected MUCH MORE. But oh well, it was still fun:biggrin:

Mr. Self... you do not have a LS1 you cannot beat the almight SRT-4. Sheesh, everybody seems to think they can just beat a SRT-4. Ever since that stock Cavalier beat one everybody is like "WHOA! I can beat one too!"

Anywhooo, your Z28 ain't no push over... and he obviously wasn't the best driver judging by how you said he launched horribly. I say don't give up on the SRT-4 till you've raced one piloted by a driver who knows what he's doing. Such as yourself. :p

But it is good to hear a kill story against what seems to be everybodies favorite little race car now days. Seems like all I hear or read these days is SRT-4 this... SRT-4 that...

Ill give one a go, but i think it would be close.

I just want to see an SRT-4.
I mean, half the posts I seem to bump into are about how one got owned or some drivel like that. Are they going to bring them to Japan? They brought the Cavalier and the PT Loser, but I have yet to see the newer American Sport Compacts.
Just think it would be fun to see how they hold up here. I have seen what happens when a vette decides it can beat a GTR (not pretty) or even a Z28 against a tuned sylvia (less pretty). I would love to see an American car thrown into the mix and do well over here. I guess if I get the chance at all it will probably be the SVO Focus WRC, as the japanese are already rally crazy.

There's probaly a big chance that those kids can't drive worth shit...

Saw one at the track, didn't actually race him but his best times were still 2 full seconds slower than mine. That count as a kill? :p

It was an '04 too, obviously he couldn't drive, it should have been real close.

To answer a multitude of questions. I have a '95 LT1, not an almighty LS1, hehe. And that's what I was in, not the C5. No Redneck, not too many go fast parts. Nothing like before. I'm running it with intake, shorty headers(emissions time again in February:rolleyes:), and exhaust. And that's it. I just really expected much much more from the car. Like someone said, he obviously wasn't the best driver in the world, and there were three people to my one...But I was running with full stereo, two subs, amp, box, etc., AND I had two extra wheels w/tires sitting in the back that I need to take and have balanced. So I dunno...I was just really disappointed with the car's performance.

Dont forget what you said right there. Three kids at the age of 16 and 17 is quiet alot of weight on that car. But then again you have a Camaro and they are really capable of smoking cars like that, lol.

I have a V6 stang and a Srt-4 thought he would be funny and rev on me trying to get me to race him but I just sped off and just after that little incident I look in my rear view mirror and a cop is pulling him over. lmao In my town if u are caught street racing u get your license revoked for a year your car gets impounded and u spend a night in jail.

Are you saying you walked a SRT-$ mustang372004? Cause the stock V6 in a stang is not exactly that potent.

yeah, I had a V6 stang and it was slow as hell, mine was one of the worst though, a 95, I read that the next year after they jumped from 145HP to 195HP. I belive it too cuz my friedns moms 97 v6 auto(mine was auto too) smoked mine.

and I have tried to keep up with one before, he got the jump cuz we were both pulling out of a parking lot, he went and then i went right behind him and in maybe a bit over 150 feet he must have had at least 9-10 cars on me. I know my car isnt fast at all, probably mid-high/high 15 but man that car was fast, not stock though, dont know whats done to it but ive heard from a few people its got the mopar stage 1 and I noticed a intercooler spray bar also.

Cause it sounds like the driver of the 4 had no idea how to driver or wasent racing. Or it wasent a race.

I've raced a coworker's '97 Z28 manual transmission a couple times when I was stock and I would pull on it exactly like a WRX...once I shift into second I start reeling it in until about 45mph or 50mph and then I pass it. Now that I have Stage 1 I'm curious to see how I'd stack up against an LS1.

Ya...it would be for educational purposes only. ;) I just wanna see where the differences are. I've seen some videos of Stage 1 SRT-4's harassing Cobras and Corvettes and I'm curious.
