replace the rest of exhaust too??

i need help with a problem i have run into, i have a magnaflow cat and the filter or w/e is on the inside of it broke into a whole bunch of pieces. i went to the place where i got it installed and bought it from and they want me to pay for another one while they send the old one to the warranty place for magnaflow. i think thats bullshit cuz ive already paid for that once and it hasnt even been a month since ive had it installed. so i wanna know what the rest of you think, is what theyre tellin me right or are they just messin with me.

heres another problem, since the filter on the cat broke into a load of pieces they all got into the cat-back exhaust, so now i dont even know how clogged up it really is inside there, im afraid my muffler and stuff might be clogged up and i want to get it replaced since it is also from magnaflow....do you guys think thats a reasonable thing to worry about and a decent thing to try and get it replaced under warranty too since it was their cat that messed it up in the first place?

i really appreciate any help here, im just tryin to get this sorted out right and not get taken for a fool and what not

Well as long as they pay you back once you get the parts warrantied i dont see a real problem.

SInce the muffler tip is right at the muffler in most import exhausts, it should be hard to find out if there is still crap in there. Poke around in there with a coat hanger or similar, and if ytou dont feel anything it should be fine. If there is stuff in there try to knock it out the other end. The cat should be replaced for free. But I can see why a shop would want you to pay first. Its not very often companies actually honor thier warranties, and the shop doesnt want to eat the cost if magnaflow finds some reason to not cover it. It sucks, but its the way things often go...
