Hey,

My friend has a 91 jetta sedan and we were installing a system in it and we cannot find a place to run the power wire to the battery. does anyone have any ideas on how we can do this or where we can run it??

Anything Helps! -Thanks-

Jason

pull up the carpet under your pedals or on the driver side. look for an exsisting gromet with wires already coming in. pull it out and run the wire in with them. get a gromet the wire will fit in and drill a new hole(the size of the gromet), making sure there isn't anything on the other side to hit. pull the wire through the hole, slide the gromet on, pop it in the hole and done. replace carpet and good to go.i would do it just to the right of the fuze box, but not too close. do not put it in the way of the pedals or any moving parts. plan it out well.

I installed a system in my jetta, and the other guy was right. I found a spot that is, if I remember correctly, pretty much directly behind your clutch pedal. I don't recall having to pull up the carpet though. It WAS filled by a black rubber grommet that didn't have any wires going through it. In fact, I don't think it even had a hole in it. Anyways, I just popped it out from inside the car into the engine compartment. If you open your hood and look down at the firewall on the drivers' side, way down behind the expansion tank and a bit to the left, you can see it fairly easily. This will give you a better idea of where it's located when you're all cramped under the steering column and fuse box (don't get stuck!) If you can, maybe pop it from the engine compartment into the car. That way you can punch a hole in it, run your wires through it and stick it back in place. Good luck

***getting stuck*** taking the drivers seat out(be-it a pain) will make it more roomy to work there.

***carpet pull*** you would putt the carpet up if you want the wire to go through the floor, but that gromet you speak will work. I would buy a new gromet to fit with a split and hole in it. not punch a hole though the old gromet. that is sloppy. and not sealed.
