Is a 94-98 mustang gt 5 speed faster than an auto 99-04 mustang gt?

It would be really close alot of it depends on the driver. I would say the auto would win but not by much

hmmm... technically, if you wanna talk about frictional losses and gear ratios, you will typically lose about 17% of your flywheel power through the driveline on your average manual trans. that figure jumps to 25% on an automatic driveline. therefore, this contest largely depends on driver skill: winning with an auto is a simple matter of not holding it in gear too long. with manual, you have the threat of missing a gear or a number of other driver errors. so, unless the driver of the manual is highly skilled, the auto will most likely take the prize.

Ok my question here is this. Are we saying that an automatic will beat a stick simply because its an automatic. Or are we saying that the automatic would win because it is a 99-04 vs 94-98. So in other words lets say we were talking a 99-04 stick vs 99-04 auto. Now who would win this race. And we are talking about a person who knows what he is doing in the stick.

I'm saying the auto would win becasue it is the 99-04. If it was a 99 stick vs 99 auto I would definetely say the stick would win. 99-04 gained 45 horsepower at the flywheel over the 96-98.

I'll say the '99+ auto will win because it has more power than the SN95, but the race will be fairly close. A manual will be faster if both cars are the same.
