RT or VR-4?

VenomInMyVeins

who would rather have the rt over the vr? and why? or visa versa

well between those i'd take the VR-4 cause it's better, however given the option of a stealth r/t tt i would definitely take the stealth over a VR-4, but that's just me. I'm picky like that, i guess you could almost call me a car nazi, my girlfriend does, lol.

I did mean the r/t tt

PowerCrazy
01-17-2004, 12:18 AM
well then i'd for sure go with the stealth... partly cause it's dodge over mitsubishi, i'm more of a domestic kinda guy. but also there are some nice mods for the stealth (not saying the VR-4 doesn't) that are good looking and crank out even more horsepower... i've seen stealths puttin out over 400hp with not too much put into it in parts or price. but that's just mt opinion, it's basically the same car so all it really boils down to is preferance. mine is the r/t tt stealth

PowerCrazy.. tell me.. what do you think is the difference between the vr-4 and rt tt? y would they have different mods? and how is the rt tt a domestic?

Knowing that these 2 cars basically came off the same assembly line and the rarety of each car, i personally would choose the rt tt twin turbo because only 3,106 were ever produced and they have a bit more HP than the vr-4

the difference in HP however is very small, i think the stock twin turbo rt tt pushes 300 hp @6000 RPM but i also got to admit that the newer vr-4's (newer generation) looks pretty nice

wtf?

They are the almost same car with different body panels, and different badging. The stealth is just as domestic as the 3000gt is, and both have the same amount of power.

91-96 the stealth didnt have active aero, the 3000gt did
95-96 the stealth didnt have all wheel strearing, the 3000gt did

other than that they are the same car, any mod that can be done to the stealth can be done to the 3000gt, and vise vera.

lol did u not just say they are 'basically the same cars, came off the same assembly line?' and the only reason i said the rt tt has a bit more HP than the 3000gt is because i meant the twin turbo stealth rt tt

Haha, this thread is funny. Why am I so cynical tonight!!? :smokin:

First off, I don't really no anyone who, if given the choice, would pick the R/T over a TT (not accounting for the occasional difference in opinion of course. I'm sure some people wuld choose differently and ahve their reasons).

Secondly, I'd pick a VR-4 over a R/T TT. Although in older generations I like the styling and lines of the Stealths....hmmmm. Year to year though, the R/T TT and VR-4 have basically the same HP, if a very small difference.

As for the whole domestic vs. import/ dodge vs mitsu.........ya, what talskinyguy said; they're the exact same car. Look at any Stealth, most of the parts under the hood (or anywhere) have Mistu on them. Dodge just designed slightly different bodies for the two. Same assembly lines, same mods available, etc.

So, ya, twin turbos over n/a anyday.

All VR-4's are TT.

Comparing year to year the motors of the RT/TT and the VR-4 are identical.

91-93 300hp
94+ 320hp

If you plan to drag race the 95-96 RT/TT's are lighter becasue of the lack of AWS and ECS(Eletronically Controlled Suspension)

but because of those aditions the vr-4 is a better all around road racing car vs the rt/tt... so it depends on what you're wanting to do w/ the car.

Why is everyone typing VR-4? Just go with a VR4, as I have on two occasions :iceslolan

dah what are some of you saying.

as some have said, they are the same car except for body panels, badges, and a few extra gizmos on the vr-4. there was never any power difference between equal years of the two cars. not a slight difference, none at all. they have exactly the same engine.

venom, i agreed with just about everything you said except for that last part, how would the vr-4 be better at road racing? the AWS is only for lane change kind of turns, it is not ment for hard cornering. and i do not think that and the active aero would make any niticable difference in any race situation just like the added weight wouldn't.

i like the vr-4 better for one reason, personally it just looks much better to me. just my tast but i think they are way better looking.

I'd buy a rt tt any day over a vr4 simply because of the price. you'll pay thousands more for the same damn car if you buy a 3000gt. just slap a gt spoiler on your stealth and it'll be just as sexy.

I disagree. I like the taillights better on a 3000. So VR4 for me just 'cause I personally like their looks better, and a couple other things.

Dodge manufactures mitsubishi so they are basically legal in the U.S. I am somewhat a of domestic guy, but if you where to go overseas, the vr would have a lot more horses because over here we have strict emissions test.

Oh boy where to start.

1) Mitsubisi made both the steath and the 3000GT in their plan in Japan.
2) Dodge/Chrysler do not own Mitsubisi tho they do own stock in the company.
3) the version of the 3000GT sold in japan (called the GTO) had less HP than the us version (280hp)

I never said dodge owned mitsu. But what do you think a dsm is?

Also I would like to say that maybe not for a vr or stealth, but almost any other "top car" would cooler than same model here. Not a trouble starter, but correct me if my sources are wrong.

I never said dodge owned mitsu. But what do you think a dsm is?You said the manufactured mitsu, which they don't. Mitsu manufactured the Stealth.

DSM = Diamon Star Motors.

Originaly setup as a JOINT venture between Chrysler and Mitsubisi. Their plant was located in Normal, Ill. The plant was primarly run by mitsu using mutsu components.

They built the laser/eclipse/talon line their. The joint vneture ended in the late 90's. But they still make the 3g eclipse, other mitus, and the chrysler product based ont he 3g eclipse(avenger, 2 dr sevring / stratus)

The 3000GT and Stealth are not DSM's ;)

I know the 3S use the 6g72 and the dsm's use the 4g63 whats the 420a in?

Well I would have to go with the Stealth RT/TT for a few reasons. One, I like Dodge, and it would make me feel better with dodge badges on it. Until I lift the hood  , j/k. Also the fact of the price...the stealths are much much cheaper than the 3k. Model for Model. I also like the tailights on the stealth better. And for some reason, when I look around the internet at car 1/4 times, they always have the stealth at .1 faster than the 3000gt. I never understood that, but if true, that's even better. But I do agree with getting the 95-96 for less weight factor, I don't need to switch lanes fast or lower my car when driving. I can control how it reacts....that's for beginners. My :2cents:

the active aero was a cheap hardly noticible feature mitsu slapped onto the 3k just to say they have the "active aero" is equipped, it makes no difference, If they raced a 1/4 its a drivers race, Stealth is hands down cheaper so id choose stealth......... Plus theres nothing like saying I have a "Dodge Stealth" has a nice ring vive to it.... my opinion atleast.

talskinyguy
05-03-2004, 12:00 AM
Umm the active aero is hardly a "cheap hardly noticible feature". It cuts lift in the front in 1/2 and puts downforce on the back of the car, instead of lift. In the 1/4 mile its useless, but when I cruse around above 100mph, its a very noticeable difference.
