My uncle is willing to sell his 97 expedition xlt model. He has kept up the truck and it hasnt had any major work done to it. He kept the maintence up regularly. The truck as 194k miles on it. Majority is from riding from tennessee to fla on the regular (he is military). He is willing to sell it for $3,500. Would that be a good buy and if so how long would the truck last me before it needs major work?

With that many mies on it, theres no tellin how long it will last. It could break tomorrow or never, The #4 coil packs are known to go bad on the 5.4L engines, not sure about the 4.6L. You'll need to know which engine is in it. Also, unless you or you know someone really mechanically inclined, the basic plug change on a 5.4 can be pretty pricey.
I say for that price, if its in good condition and no trouble has come from it since and you keep up on the maintainance, should be a good buy. just my .02.
I own a 98 xlt with 88k on it.

Regular transmission fluid changes are a requirement on these things. The front end can get expensive with high mileage.
That is a good price if it's in REALLY nice shape.
