Oil squirters???

Ok i was reading an article that said that the 2G DSM oil squirters could be the the cause of the crankwalk. This is because they draw off the oil pressure and ,if loged open, can cause not enough oil pressure to reach the thrust surface causing the deadly crankwalk.

Now i was curious as to the 1G DSM squirters. Would you be able to fit these to a 1G DSM and has anyone done this or know someone who has done this? Or maby a link to a how to on this??

What if you don't use any oil squirters at all? You would have higher oil pressure too. Some of the 10 sec and faster cars use a 4g63 NT block which doesn't even have squirters. I don't know of any 2g people going through the trouble of installing 1g squirters. By the time they have the 2g motor out and unassembled, it would probably be easier to just put a 1g block in there. Have you tried searching on NABR's website? I'm not sure how good dsmtalk and dsmtuners is for technical stuff. NABR is by far the best DSM techincal site out there. Ask one of them.

The alleged benfit is cooling of the piston, which is important in turbo applications. There are plenty of race motors out there that dont use them, as mentioned. But for a daily driver it may be worth while to have them. Its a tough question, and one that I dont think will ever have a "right" answer. I think its up to each person to decide individually. Your best bet besides looking to people that have done these things (nabr, talk, etc) would be to talk to motor builders like SBR, RRE, BR, etc. and get thier opinion on how necessary they are, and what is involved with swapping in the 1g ones if you want to go that route...
