What do you refer to as "sucks"?

well i'm not a professional, but if you get an intake, arent you supposed to upgrade your exhaust system to compensate. My father has the hard shell cover on his bed and is miledge is much better than mine. course he also has the 5.3, and not the 4.8

I have a 2001 Z71 extended cab. I was getting about 310 miles to the tank before I did any mods. I have now added an AEM Brute Force Intake (added power and mpg) and a Flowmaster with true duals 50 series. Since those two upgrades my power has increased, and I get about 360 to the tank now. That's a 26 gallon tank I have, cause mines a stepside. Not sure what you have. However, I fill up and put about 21 gallons in, so that's 360 miles on 21 gallons, not 26. Next will be headers, and I will let you know.

Where are you going to buy your headers? I have been looking for a while for a good set of headers for my 4.8L. At www.clearimageautomotive.com they have some that are "coming soon". Those look like the best set of headers I've been able to find.

Long tube and mid lenth headers are the way to go. They are a whole lot more expensive than shorties, but the performance gain is unreal. There are several companies that make some mean headers, such as Arizona Speed and Marine Long Tubes, The Other Guys Headers, B&B Triflo headers, SuperMaxx, and Thorley. All of these are either mid length or long tube. Most of these headers are pretty expensive, but unsurpassed in quality and performance.
