hey my cousin just got a 2000 prelude vtec. i have a '04 spec-v. both cars are stock. who would win off the line? 1/4 mile? i know that the '00 prelude has 200hp and the spec-v has 175hp, but what do you guys think? who will win?

you just got the spec you say?
he will win, atleast until you learn how to drive it well. After that I think it will be a driver's race

ive beaten a 00 prelude from 80-125 mph in my stock spec. i was alone, he had a passenger. beat him by a buslength. i thought i would lose my advantage in a top end race (Honda's supposedly have relatively great top end). dunno if he messed up or had an auto or what not... but if i beat him fair and square at those speeds, i'm sure you'd smoke your friend in a stoplight race (the spec and its torque would dominate through the first couple gears).

btw, when i let off at 125, the prelude did a ricer fly-by and put on his hazards like he won.

'tard. :loser:

i don't actually know what kind've times preludes are seeing at the track, but yeah, i would think you could win.
-don't race until your car is broken in.

you could have also raced a lower model, I believe this guy's cousin has the SH which would be nearly identical, if not faster than a spec.

could have been a lower model, lower trim. i don't know much about preludes. all i know is that it was the last generation model. gearing may have played a role too. i punched 4th gear, and was nearly at redline in 5th when i was done., whereas the prelude was prolly slightly lagging in it's top gear since it's a 5 speed not a 6 speed.

you're right tho. the 'lude is heavier, but it's power-to-weight ratio is still better so who knows..

thanks again for the input...my car has about 3000 miles...is that broken in enough? lol

well hmm let me me and my friends have done this race may time with with the spec and the lude it's really a driver's race but i will say this spec v will own till 3-4 that's when the lude will pull hard at the end of 3rd top end in the lude is bad ass so i suppose the one you beat was prolly auto but stock to stock really a driver's race

correct me if i'm wrong, but the SH is slower then the base model due to the fact that it has a much beafier suspension which adds more weight. I think you would have a better chance against an SH then a lower model one, they both have same motors , just suspensions are different. I've driven an SH, it has awesome handling!

That should be plenty broken-in enough. Couple more hundred miles will be good though.

Yeah. One of the perks of owning a business. The BMW 4.4 is my main car. The 330xi is my partner's, but I can still drive it! I am going to sell the Land Crusier soon. The Rav is the company car, the 4 Runner's my wife's and the Trans-Am is ALL MINE.

i raced a lude at the track when i first went and was running slower times. but when we took off he was way behind but right at the end he caught up and beat me. but i also ran like a 16 so it wasnt that good. he had and intake and some pulleys i think, not much, maybee exhaust too. he didnt win by much so yea, dirvers race.
