I've wondered that too. I havent really heard good things though. Some one said they got one and it cracked or something and when they called OBX to replace it since it was under warranty, OBX never replaced it or even got back to them. Id try and go name brand, for another 100 or so.

It's up to you whether to take the chance or not. You have to be willing to accept poor build quality and non-existance customer service if you go for a no-name header. I won't guarantee anything, but I've heard of people doing find with them.

As for cats, no cat is going to kill your low-end power. Just make sure you get one sized correctly for your system. I use a Carsound with custom mounted/sized end pieces from SMS Products.

exactly. even though the mods i have are brand name and kinda pricey, and has taken me that much longer to save up for, i know the quality and service is behind me. but i was on ebay and was looking for a new header for my car and found this one for $200, plus $25 ship=$225 for practically a new dc sports header. look around on ebay, you might find some.

this isn't true. a free flowing cat (which is wut i believe he is asking about,) will end up in a loss of low-end power/torque. it may jus be transfered up to the higher rpm range, but for daily driving, there will be a loss. nothing major (2-3hp,) but it is still there from the lack of delta pressure. read up on it...Here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=13199)

Thank you for the link. I am aware of the myth of backpressure and the pulse/scavenging theories. I didn't read the article but I'll get around to it in a day or two.

From my personal experience I can tell you that the low-end losses are minimal. Currently, I have a 4-1 header, 2.25in cat, and a 2.36in catback on an LS. This is definitely a "top end" setup (which I don't reccommend for the LS, btw). My low/mid range losses in whp are about 3-4whp right at 3500 rpm from stock. I can post my dyno if you like. I don't have seperate dynos of before and after the cat, but my educated guess would be that the long primaries and larger bore catback have more to do with the loss than the cat does. That is speculation, though.

ah, thas all i was saying. i thought u meant that no high-flowing cat was going to take away from ur low-end power.
