I have a '95 Grand Am 3.1 with a five speed and I was thinking about putting a performance chip on the car. Has anybody tried some of the chips out there and what seems to work best for the buck. If anybody has tried one or if anybody has some advise, I would appreciate the feed back. :dunno:

Sorry, Seems there are many of us out there with the same problem and no answers. Guess we r driving the wrong cars for performance parts.
But i am working with a friend who may offer us help. I will let u know as soon as i find out

I see big claims about the speed chips anyone know how good they work the ones that make the computer think the temp is cooler.

All I found with the chip that tricks the computer to think the engine is cooler is you use more gas. Nothing else, just more gas. Hypertech used to make a performance chip for the 95 gt, but it was geared towards the automatic transmission vehicle, really didnt' make much of a difference with a 5 speed.

well wouldnt a cold air intake reverse the effects of use more gas and possibly exploit the resistors potential

All a cold air intake does is draw cooler air in from outside the car into the intake manifold. The reason why this works is because cooler air is denser than warmer air, thus resulting in more bang in the cylinders. Fooling the computer with a cold air intake installed will cause the car to run rich, fouling plugs and trashing the cat.
