Used to when I was younger, but that was 15-20 years ago. These days the money goes on the house, the kids, the computer.Still like to pile in for the odd dirt - track derby, currently got a 2L Mazda Luce(929,notRX-4) ready to strip and trash.

Well the best place for me used to be at Thunder Park in Hastings till they dig it up and planted stupid fucking grapes.
1/8 mile drags at closed meetings in different towns was the other.

The only place I would race is at the track, whether it be a drag strip, road course, autocross in a parking lot, whatever. I have raced a couple of times on the street, but that just gets too scary with the traffic and all the other drivers out there.

no tracks or strips around my area so most people go to a disused industrial area. a very long straight road thats good for runs

Drag Strip is the BEST PLACE TO RACE! I don't like the 1/8 mile strip, the 1/4 mile is better. Also, its good because you get unlimited runs(atleast at Atlanta Dragway) and you get to watch the other cars too and you get time slips and see how fast your car is too all at the same time. Also, you don't have to fear cops!

The best place to race is at the drag strip, simply cause there will always be a winner and a losser. No excuses, u have the times to prove it, and tons of peeps as witnesses........and u dont have to worry bout no po po's:sun:

i enjoy the "closed road" street races i go to a lot, simply cuz a better turnout of cars i like, at the track the import guys are too afraid to to race usually, intimidated by the big v8s i guess. well thats the way it is around here anyway. i myself love running at the tracks, usually the domestic guys dont mind sharing the track with me, i actually get a lot of questions and compliments from em. i dont like "random" street races, i.e. in traffic, but have been known to do so, only if im sure im not endangering other traffic. its one thing to put myself in danger, its my choice, but its not cool to put innocent passerbys in danger. when i do "public road" street races we usually do it in an area with no cross traffic, and we wait in a parking lot so we can pull out and be 1st in line at the red light, thereby eliminating much of the "civilian" trafffic.

If I raced I would definitely say a drag strip or track. It's too dangerous on public roads.

Most fun Ive had was in a Gymkhana.
What id most like to try is classic sports car racing. Like whats happening in Dunedin this weekend :)
Id lvoe to race a lotus 7 or a cooper 500 or something like that
fav would have to be a lotus 23b though, theres gonna be one there this weekend, yay

im really disappointed that there are so few tracks around. im in ct and the closest drag strips are lebanon NY or epping NH. there are a few road course like lime rock, but those guys charge too much money for not enough runs. back in the 50's when they started the nhra, it wa to eliminatwe street racing, and it worked well, they have to try it again

Been road racing a 70 Cortina GT for the last 35 years. These days my son drives, I fix and pay the bills. Car now has a 2.3 SOHC, 240 HP with Al head and 2 Weber 50DCO's, T-5 transmission, quick-change rear. Very modified suspension. Race in Atlantic Canada at AMP-Atlantic Motorsport Park.

I usually just race random people on the road. Only race when the road is open and never in the city. Don't want to risk a ticket like that. I like to race at the track, but I can't stand how crowded it gets. Its no fun going by yourself either.
