GMM...
Have 93 Astro V/6 Z in VIN # w/114,000 was working fine
until the first hard rain couple months ago...
Then
As I was driving enginejust cut out.
Pull over and waited a few seconds and started back up but engine acted like it was misfiring
so to help keep it running I would apply gas which caused a backfiring through TBI then all of a
sudden it would smooth out and run OK from then on until the next time.
This happened on an off several times and would appear to do so ONLY when it rained and I would pull over, wait a while and re-start but on occasion it would also happen while driving
When symptoms continued I changed out cap and rotor and thought that that fixed the problem. However the problem continued up to and including today when it WOULD NOT start at all....turns over OK but NO START. She gets plenty of fuel. but the symptoms still continue.
Checked the various posters on the forum and noticed that YOU had advised someone that the problem is vacuum and to check the EGR. And another response stated that astro's have a problem with the EGR
fouling. Could I be experiencing the same problem with my EGR.
This problem has never happened before since the Van was new.
I am disabled and need this van for medical appointments
and would appreciate your or anyone's help.
Thanks
David.

i didn't say aything about vacuum or egr valve.........my advice is change your ignition wires, they hate moisture and even when dry can cause these types of problems. hope that helped.
