Reoccurring starter problems 92 Wagon

 I have a 92 Wagon, (75,000 miles) I bought it at 40,000 miles and within the 30 day warranty the starter was replaced. Since then (4 years?) I think my starter has been replaced 5 or 6 times. Now it has another flat spot (?) and is currently in the shop again. I had the fly wheel(?) replaced awhile ago so what is the the deal with this car? Also, why do I have a hood ornament? I haven't seen another Cavalier with a hood ornament. It's just an empty circle.

I have the same problem with my 91 wagon. GM is bad about having to put a shim between the starter and its mounting spot in the block. since the starter bolts up and not in it can be too tight against the flywheel without the shim and since you have had the flywheel replaced I would say that this is the problem. Take it to the dealership or a"good" mechanic, not a little shop and ask them about the starter shim.
