Im not sure how active this forum is but I have joined becasuse I have a problem with my car that I have recently purchased. It is a Ford Fiesta Sapphire with central locking. When I purchased the car I was given only one key and so I am looking to get another one cut. So I took my key to a normal key cutters in my local town to be informed that my key contained a microchip and if he cut me another that it would only be able to open the doors but not start the engine. He also informed me I needed a key that was "all red" but mine was black only with a plastic red mark on it.
I'm not sure if this will make any sence to anyone else but could someone please help. Thanks in advance.

if you go to a ford dealers they will be able to cut a new key for you, with the chip inside....
ask the person who sold you the car if they have any more keys....you should have a red key (the master) a black key with a red dot (the spare) and a black key that will only unlock the boot/doors...
if they still have the master key, they can drive your car away....best get a crooklok
hope this helps

Thanks a lot for your help. I was just daft and didn't really read the manual propley. I have found out it will cost me about £120 to have a new red key cut so i'm gonna see if any of the previous owners has the red one. Luckly I already got a gear and handbreak lock for my car lol.
