Hood Struts

I was wondering if anyone out there could let me know about hood struts. I have a 97 GT Coupe that originally came with just a prop rod. My wife hit a deer and crumpled the original hood. I bought a used one from a later model that has the 'nubs' for the struts.

My question is, where do the struts attach on the lower end? I just have the hood hinges that were original to my 97. There is a hole at the front edge of the lower hood hinge...does it attach there or is there a mounting point on the inner fender that may not be present on my early '97 (bought July 3, 1996). I would like to add struts so it's not so heavy to lift all the time. Any help appreciated!

You need to have the hinges that have the posts on them for the struts. Yours does not have them. You could possibly pick some up from a junk yard or post a WTB thread for them over at clubgp. You might even be able to have a shop weld some on for you.

I'll try to take a picture for you so you can see what I mean.

Audio is correct, you have to install the lower posts in order to install the strut
