enzo ferarri: advice.

ok, i feel like buying an enzo from hlj (i just cheked, it should be around 33 dollars + 10 for shiping, so 43...)

i was wondering if sum1 who built it could give me the complete list of paints needed, and also, as i was searching hlj, they showed me extra parts, extra decals, and the like.......

should i get those? or is the one displayed on hlj, the one mine could look like when its finished?

one more thing.... should i get this perfect kit now? or when i've got more skills: eg: now i can't polish a car, i can't build without breaking 1 or 2 parts.... etc......

Well i would say dont build it then you wont dissapoint youreslf.
I have been building solidly for 12 months and have over 20 kits behind me. i have had the kit sitting on my shelf for 6 months and am glad i didnt start it till now. its a serverely detailed kit and requires a lot of experience with painting and building. Maybe you should just get the revel enzo for now as there are far fewer pieces and much simpler build.
i am using the studio 27 photo etch kit and wouldnt have been able to do any of the work needed till now dude to the skill level it requires.

oh, and its not that i want to build a ferarri, its coz i want to build something that looks VERY very very very detailed, and is challengeing.... but ithink i should wait till ican lay a decent paint job first :)

I agree. You should work on level 2 Revells. They are cheap and good practice. Also I wouldnt want to ruin a pricy model such as the enzo.

from where? a lhs? or.... i duno....

what do u mean level 2 revels..... i checked hlj, and it said the enzo is level 3, which means it isn't really hard.....

tho everything is level 3 on hlj?:S...

put it this way if the enzo is a level 3 kit then that reduces 90% of tamiyas kits to level 1!

the enzo is a serverly complex kit, mainly with regards to painting and building. its far more than just building as per the instrucions.
it needs a lot of time and experience to produce a good one.
revel kits are far more simple in my opinion.

why not build a skyline R34 if you want a more complex model as the suspension and underside would be a good start towards building up to an enzo

what i meant was to get some expirience on other models before you start a complex a model.

It's not the kit that makes a good model, its the builder that makes a good model.

I have 2 Tamiya Enzos (Red and Yellow versions)and 2 Revell Enzos (US and Revell Germany versions). I have compared them side by side, and was amazed at how accurate they BOTH are. You could swap out some peices with each other. That's how close they are.

The revell requires test fitting, sanding and tweaking more so than the Tamiya will. But after spending the time doing these simple things the result is amazing.

The Revell Enzo is by no means a kit that will not build up to a very realistic replica. It is one of the most challenging kits I've ever worked on. It is also the best Revell kit I've ever worked on.

I recommend both kits. But neither are for the beginner.

c'mon is the enzo THAT complex???? I heard it has about 100 parts which is average. would someone maybe post a scan of the instruction sheet or something??

which one should i get yellow or red? and whats the difference? really..... isn't it just shell colour? (which one is more accurate, btw, i want to paint either black, midnight blue, or red.... not yellow)

One difference is the price. The yellow enzo is more money but only by like 5-10 bucks depending where you go. Someone also told me that the yellow enzo had CF decals. I think they are both equally accurate though.

as far as im aware the yellow enzo has a sheet of scale motor sport carbon fibre decal in it which is totaly worth it!
plus im not totaly sure if you get photo etch stuff

my local hobby store has the new xanavi r34 special edition that has a photo etch kit in there and carbon deacal for £19.95

Yes. The red version will require you to buy Cf decals if you are doing it bone stock. The yellow supposedly has them in there already, therefore you would not have to buy separate ones. Stupid me I bought the red version immediatly when it came out...Now i have to go and buy my own CF decals :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

i dont have the yellow one but im guesssing it doesnt have micro set and sol included...buy some of that wiht your kit if you buy it

what is microset and microsol? is that the stuff to soften decals? so they set better? (and will i really need them?)

This is off subject, but where I live right now (MONTREAL!!!! ) there is a WICKED auto show going on.. and guess what... I SPOTTED THE ENZO! HOLY SHIT! HELP ME GOD, THAT IS ONE "PHAT" CAR!! HAHAHAHAHA! I WANTED IT!

When I was in my lhs yesterday, there was a mother with 3 kids in front of me, and she bought the oldest son (approx 8 years old) the Tamiya red Enzo kit and humbrol brush paints, to paint it with. :screwy:

Apparantly it was the kids Christmas money and all he wanted was this kit. He was going round his friends to built and paint it that afternoon.
I hope the results don't put him off modeling.

maybe he already has sum brushes at home..?

I would do about 5 models. I dont think it is the most complex and detailed though.

apart from going for the more obscure and specialist companies i think the tamiya enzo is the most Taxing of kits to build. i would say wait till you have done at least 10 kits. i think you should build a tamiya ferrari 360 before you build the enzo as its complex and will at least get you prepared for the enzo

I would say the Fujimi Enthusiast Kits are some of the most detailed and complex 1/24 scale kits, especially the Porsche 356 models, even the pistons are included.

Also the plastic is quite soft and I find when filling/sandin injector marks and seams its too easy to change the shape of the part.

Yea hes right. Maybe if you get more experience with tamiya models it will seem as if the enzo is a little less complex. I think we have all agreed on doing some models first to gain experience and then doing enzo :smile:
