I am in the process of building a new motor for this car. The botttom end is going to stand up to 600+ hp. I am stepping up to a stageIII port on my heads, a Lunadi custom cam, and still undecided on which intake. I was planning on a Prochager but recently I have been thinking of a turbo. After seeing my first turbo pro mod Mustang, or hearing it I can't get visions of a twin turbo under my hood out of my head. What do you turbo guys think I should look into. I want to swap the 11 on my tag to a 10.

Why not go with a single? Are you stuck on the 302? I am building mine for the 9s:)

600+ HP? If you're staying with the stock block, then having a 600+ horsepower motor that will last on the street is pretty much impossible. Jump to a stock 351W block, or get an R302/A4/Dart block if you want to make that much power on the stock 302 and have it last. Check out www.turbomustangs.com for lots of turbo info.

I have an A4 block already. Got to start with a good foundation to have a good motor.

parish5o u sound just like me. I was so set on a P-1SC ProCharger until the past couple of months. I've been reading into some turbo kits on proturbokits.com checking the potentials and gains especially intercooled with CO2 injection(like a friend of mine runs) and i'm sold. However i'm still unsure whether i should run twin turbo like T66's or T72's or a single turbo like a T76. I built my motor specifically to handle high boost so i'm ready whatever I decide. In the end i'm shooting for high 9's and around 700 rwhp. God I love that number.

So I guess i figure everybody out there has a supercharger under the hood of their mustang, why be like everybody else!

You want to do 700 to the wheels and you're thinking of a pair of T72's? Those wouldn't be getting into their efficiency range till like 25+ PSI, and would be much better suited to a 1200+ RWHP race motor than a 700 RWHP street/strip car. You can do 700 to the wheels on a single T72 without breaking a sweat.

But back to parrish. Since you do have an A4 already, that's good. Provided you have a solid crank and rods, throw in some good forged pistons, upgrade the fuel system, get your turbo(s) setup and you'll be ready to rock. Best choices are Turbo Tech Inc out of Washington they've been doing turbo stangs since the late 80's, Cartech in texas has been around since the early 90's and is also very good. Pro Turbo Kits is nice, they have a lot of options on your kit and quality is top notch. I'm running one of their kits. Basically bolt on one of their kits to a built 302-347 with a PT76-GTS and you can go 9's easy with the right suspension.

Also, with the PTK street kits you can run as big as a PT88 small frame and keep PS and AC. You can keep all accesories with the cartech SN95 outlaw (works fine on foxes with some mods to the intake pipe, and better than the fox outlaw kit) but it uses an on-center turbo which will limit power output a little bit. You can keep AC and PS with the TTI street single, I think you can with the race single with some mods, and with some fabbing you can keep all accesories on the TTI twin kit to as big as a pair of T76's, but you have to ditch the swaybar or make a swaybar spacer to keep it.

hey boosted331 you say you ordered your turbo kit through ptk? What kit did u get and what options with it? Just curious! A got a couple of questions for ya then if u please. Do the sales people really know a lot and are they helpful, and are they flexible on the prices? (Like when I ordered from CHP, Mike game me like almost 10 percent off). And the biggest question, was it worth it? Thanx!

Thanks for all the websites, the info has been helpful but I still have alot to learn. I have studied Mustangs for years but I've just never paid attention to trubos. The potential of these things is awesome but a trubo Mustang is unheard of around here. That is one reason I want one. If I want to stay on top of all the new kids around town I've got to set the bar a little higher. They are knocking on my door already.

What are the pros/cons of a single vs twin setup on the street?

I actually didn't buy it direct from PTK, I bought it online. My kit uses their Gen4 headers, a 3.5" vband downpipe, and a griffin 30x14x4.5 air to air intercooler. The regular intercooler is a vertical flow intercooler, with end tanks on the top and bottom. The guy I bought mine off of was planning on installing this in his car which is absolutely dumped, so he didn't want to bust off an endtank if he hits a bump. Only downside is I have to run the throttle body on the drivers side, but i'm running a spyder-style manifold so that isn't a big deal. I havn't talked to them lately but I heard they hired a new guy to handle all sales and tech support, so you should get good support from them.

What are the pros/cons of a single vs twin setup on the street?

Pros of a single is its usually easier to find a single kit that lets you keep accesories, there are more single kits on the market, buying one turbo is cheaper than two, and less piping in total. Downsides: Limited by a T4 frame turbo if you go with a typical kit (not an issue for 98% of turbo kit buyers) can be harder to package in a single larger downpipe if you want to go 3.5" or 4", getting h/x-pipes to hook up can be a bit of a pain in the ass.
Pros of a twin kit, massive potential for upgradability running dual T4 housings, you can make 650-2000+ horsepower using the same basic style of exhaust housings, you can do stealthy low-mount kits to hide the turbos, and it is easier to package 2 smaller air filters than trying to put a big honkin K&N on your single.
cons, mostly cost, and not a lot of twin kits let you keep accesories
