Hi all,
As you mebey know I have a Dodge Ram Van (Dodge Caravan in the US) from 1998. Sinds I got the car I have some problems with the central doorlocking.
Normaly it has to work like this: Put key in, turn to open, hold for a couple of seconds and all locks has to open.
Now what is my problem ?
Put key in, turn to open, try to hold for a couple of seconds but the mechanism wants to turn to the lock side. Sometimes the lock looks like it's unlocked but when I turn the key back to get it out, all doors will lock again.... :screwy:
Sometimes it takes me 3 times to open the door.... :eek7: This only happens on the driverside door. When I put the key in the passengerside it will sometimes push back but the doors will open in 1 try.
Who knows the answer ?
Dennis

Dennis,
This is an easy fix... remove the door panel and carefully unclip the white plastic switch on the back of the lock mechanism. there are two wires going to it. Now you need to carefully take it apart and clean the old grease out of it and clean the contacts inside really well. Reassemble and test. Should now be working A ok. I had this problem with mine, exactly as you stated. Or you can just purchase a new lock switch. Good Luck,
Geoff
