I have a new 2004 sorrento and experance a small but noticeable rumble at exatly 70mph through 75mph. Is this a normal high range rumble or should I get it checked. Did or does anyone experance this?

my 2004 did the very same thing. and i have heard others do as well, but i do have to say that it is not usual for any car. some have told me that the drive shaft is off balance or that some of the rust proof undercoating has dripped on the drive shaft causing it is vibrate terribly. but i fixed my problem, my sorento doesn't even shake the slightest bit even up to 90+ MPH. the answer to my problem was that all four of my tires were out of balance.

so before you do anything drastic, do the simpe thing, balance your tires and see if that works.

it's probably the tires themselves....all of the kias come with junk for tires

know what you are talking about first.

sorentos all come with michelin tires...not the hankook or kumho pieces that all other models come with.

if you are under 12k miles you can take it to the dealer and have the tires balanced at no charge to you. past 12k and 12 months you will need to pay for it yourself since you are out of the warranty adjustment time frame. if that is the case it is usually no more than 40dollars to fix.

The truth is that no not all sorentos come with michellins. About the vibration stuff have your tires balanced first then drive it if it continues there is a tech bulletin of this vibration which tell kia techs to remove the two washers from the drive shaft carrier bearing housing. This fix has fixed plenty of those at my work place.

I heard the same noise around the 40 000 km mark. Right now my sorrento is in the shop with a sheard bolt pulley that attaches to the crank shaft. Do urself a favour and check it out deligently

Be careful I had same expierence and my sorrento is in the shop as we speak with a sheared bolt on the pully connected to the crank. Its a real mess cause the mechanic could not get the bolt out and damaged the crank. He also nade a real mess with metal shavings throught the engine compartment which i know is going to cause me grief later.
