Mark viii hood release problem

I replaced my headlights and, in so doing, I moved the hood release cable a few inches while putting in the driver side light. Now my hood won't close but the cable looks to be intact. Any idea what may have happened and how to fix. It's as if I pulled the hood release and it's stuck in the open poition. Thanks in advance.

Sounds bizzarre? Why would you have to move the hood release cable to remove he headlights?
