switches

Ok, if your to lazy to read my sig, i just got a 95 GSR teg, well the other day when i was messen around under the dash looking for my alarm controll box, i found two on/off simple metal switches, i kinda thought they may be kill switches but i turned them off and the car started fine. they are on that little panel right next to the clutch pedal close to the floor, right next to that foot rest thing. I have no idea what they are, i havnt really had to much time to mess with them, not to mention its really freakin cramped down there, so does anyone have any idea what they could be? thanks

Is that how kill switches work? I dont think I have one. Off the top of my head, I can't see any reason for those, but I'll mess around with mine, to see if i even have any.

They're not stock switches.

If it's a kill switch you'll have to let the car run for 30 seconds or so before it will use up the available fuel and shut down. But that's a bad location for a fuel kill, so I doubt that's what they are.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm? It could be a valet switch.

If it's neither of those they could be dead left-over switches from something the previous owner installed, like neons or something. You can easily take the panel off and see where the wires go (if there are any wires).

isnt it bad to use up the extra fuel? i dont want to mess it up. and i have an aftermarket alarm, how would i test to see if they are valet switch? and we tried following the wires, but we couldnt tell where they led. thanks for yalls help.

No. If you're really worried about it you can just turn the key to "on" without starting it for 10 seconds the next time you start it.

If it's a valet switch you should see a confirmation signal from the alarm light/led. Assuming it's a keyless entry alarm system... With valet switch off it will lock the doors and arm the system. With the valet switch on it will lock the doors but not arm the system. It would be much more handy if you had the manual for the alarm, but I doubt that's possible.

well i ran it for more than 30 seconds and it never shut off, so im guessing its not a kill switch, and i dont have the manual for the alarm, this is gonna bother me till i figure it out lol.

You may just have to trace the wires.

Test it with a volt meter. Some one may have just cut the wires for a neons or something else and left the rest.

yeah, just follow them as far as you can, then go to places youd expect to have them come out and if you see wires that arent stock, do a continuity check and if its the same wire then follow it from where you just discovered it and see if you can find it.
